To Begin... at this point in time (2007), a computer is no different than any other major household appliance. It requires regular maintenance if it is expected to continue operating at maximum efficiency and to not break down.  A computer is no different than your A/C unit, furnace, washer & dryer, etc. Just think if you NEVER tuned up your car..... eventually it is just not going to start or run very well.

There are  fundamental rules that ALL PC USERS should know about their machines, but, they DON'T, because the manufacturers and the retailers never tell the customer these things. THEY just want to sell another computer.  The Owner's Manual's sometimes state these fundamentals, but, the owner rarely reads the Owner's Manual.  Hence, we have a dilemma!  A general Lack of Knowledge for the average computer user.  They are generally grasping at straws when it comes to "WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT AND BE DOING FOR MY PC? "
